Battle of the Band

Battle of the Bands (BOTB) is an annual music competition in form of a concert, pitting several rock bands against each other, at the end of which a winner or winners are picked by a panel of judges and rewarded. Dubbed, Showdown @ the GoDown, this is the grand annual version of the regular monthly BOTB. It has been successfully held three times.

The main objective of the battle is to promote local rock bands and the culture of live music performance. This concert aims to encourage and develop good musicianship and live show performance. It also aims to entertain the rapidly growing fan base for local rock music, and create awareness of the thriving yet often ignored Kenyan rock scene.

The selection process of the bands is impartial and is done in conjunction with the Rock Society of Kenya, a registered body with membership from most, if not all, rock bands in Nairobi.
