The GoDown supports the Dance Forum Nairobi programme which provides training for youth interested in contemporary dance. This programme has helped train youth through workshops as well as residencies both within and outside the country. The students have also had a chance to put on performances for the public. The students have worked with various contemporary dance professionals including Aloyce Makonde of the Visa To Dance Festival (Tanzania), which saw the students take a trip to Tanzania for the same festival in October 2010.
The GoDown also works with Kisumu based YAWA Contemporary dance group, to promote contemporary dance workshops as well as performances In October 2010, The American Embassy facilitated Carmen Nicole Smith from The Battery Dance Company in New York hold a three-day dance workshop with 15 contemporary dancers from Bone Marrow, Nairobi in one of the dance spaces at The GoDown. Artists in Residence: As a way of supporting artists, the GoDown provides studio space to artists at subsidised rates where they can create their pieces as well as display and sell them.
