Kenya Burning Exhibitions
During and after the elections, amateur and professional photographers alike captured powerful images of the campaigning and voting processes as well as the ensuing violence and destruction. A collection of over 100 of these powerful images were put on display in an exhibition titled 'Kenya Burning' at The GoDown Arts Centre from 19th April 2008 for six weeks. The exhibition was also displayed in the RaMoMa Gallery, in Parklands, Nairobi for a month.
On the 1st anniversary of this exhibition, the GoDown Arts Centre is launching free public exhibitions under the title 'Kenya Burning - Never Forget Never Again' in Nairobi, Eldoret, Mombasa and Kisumu during March and April 2009.
This opportunity, again, to remember and reflect on the tragic post - election events of yester-year should hopefully reinforce sentiments already strongly expressed by ordinary citizens across the country that this should never happen again.
